Welcome on the LEVANT - tourist info service web page!
The
village of Betina is situated at the north-east part of the Murter Island
and is very picturesque with its houses crowded together around the hill on
a peninsula. The name comes from a Celtic word bet meaning mouth, which
suits the shape of its harbour.
Betina is famous
for its shipbuilding in wood and its carpenters (kalafati). The first
shipyard in Betina was founded in 1848, and at the end of the 1980's a
marina was added too. It is one of the most beautiful marinas in Adriatic
and viewed from a certain angle it takes the shape of a ship.
Every year in
august a regatta called "Latinsko idro" or regatta for the body and for the
soul, is organized. It is an old tradition using Latin sails on old
Dalmatian fishing boats. More about Latin sail -

Betina
specialties are the small Restaurants with local food.
We can recommand the
family Restaurant "Treva", besides the great food You can also enjoy in the
nice view from the sea side terrace.
The ingredients used in cooking are picked from the owners gardens on the
same morning and the fish is caught the previous night. The food is utterly
delicious.
